The Persian Single Knot:

The Persian Single knot and its variations is used in almost all Persian, Indian, Nepalese and Pakistani rugs. The Persian single knot also is used in most Chinese carpets with Persian or even Hereke patterns. The wide use of the single knot causes in the history of the change of market control from the Turkish to Persian carpets for European and thence for worldwide customers about 150 years ago.

The Turkish Double knot is the reason for the proverbal durability of Turkish carpets. The Hereke carpet's  durability is even stronger on behalf of the specific weaving technique used in genuine Hereke silken carpets together with the specific attributes of the used silk from Bursa, what allows their extremely high knot density.

A genuine Hereke silken carpet is produced entirely manually. Not one machine (beside of the loom) is used. The pile of the Hereke silken Carpets is trimmed by hand using a special scissors after each knotted line.

The pile of Hereke silken Carpets is always very low, because it has not to hide spaces between the knots. That leads to very clear displayed patterns, which are alike well visible from each point of view.

To grant you, our customers, that each Hereke Carpet purchased with us is a genuine one and is made 100 % by human's hand, it comes along with the certificate of the official Hereke Carpet Weavers Association or of each producing manufacture.
